Do you want to build a snow man? Or hang out under the sea?
In the wake of NBC and Fox’s successful live events The Wiz and Grease Live, respectively, ABC is developing a potential live musical of its own, new network chief Channing Dungey told reporters ahead of ABC’s upfront presentation.
“We’ve definitely been in those conversations and we have some things we’re currently in development on,” she said. “This is a space that’s already become very crowded. When we make our play in that space, we really want to make sure it’s the right project for us to be doing and one that really speaks to the heart of who we are at ABC and as a part of the Disney family.”
With the Disney vault at their fingertips, the possibilities are endless as to what ABC could be developing. Could the network bring Frozen to life (a musical version, not like what Once Upon a Time did)? Or will they pull directly from the Broadway stage and do a live version of Aladdin? Or Little Mermaid? Or The Lion King? Or Mary Poppins? Or… you get the picture.
